And today, I finished another cot quilt, this one is for baby due any day now, and the first quilt I got finished before the baby is born!!! A first for everything!!
Found a book by Anjii Solomon who likes playing with angles, I have made a couple and am playing also, hopefully I will get to make a whole quilt with them,,, they do look interesting!

It has been a while since I posted but I have managed to get a few things done. I have been chasing the pattern for this different mug bag for a while and thanks to one of the great ladies on the forum I got it,, have made a couple since this one, but think I only remembered to take this photo!

Some attempt at colouring in

Not a very good photo, the dark marks are shadows from the swing set!! I did a Claytons quilt here, had bought some material that looked like a patchwork, quilted it and added some appliques and used the Inktense pencils,,,, I know that there is a very good possibility that the quilt will be left outside/dogs will get it/whatever,,, so used it as a practice run..

Eventually got the Inktense pencils so have done the first stage of the fairy,,, remember the poor fairy that I tried to applique? here is what she looks like at this stage!

New quilt top

It has been suggested that I rename this quilt top something like "hangover view" but I think it looks quite pretty.. It is made from my big buy from overseas and is very bright !!!

Introducing Flossie the Flamingo,, a Melly & Me pattern! Made for a little girl who's big sister has been telling her frightening stories at night... so Flossie will hang above her bed and look after her!!!
Has been a while since I made any sort of toy, but will admit that I did have fun doing it.

I was playing the other day and decided to try to do an applique fairy based on a lead lighting pattern,,, welllll, the idea was good! Here she is all pinned up. Also tried the new 'shrinky stuff' on the gold wings.... anyway, she looks a bit better in the photo than she did in real life.. Yep, past tense -- too much mucking around, so it all got put into the too hard basket, and am thinking about trying those new colouring pencils instead. Will let you know when I get some! Cheers for now,,

Got a few more blocks done for the asian quilt.. January sounds a long way off but guess it will be here tomorrow!

And here is how the center came home to me! Isn't it glorious? It isn't a very good photo so will post another one at a later time. There are some very talented people on the forum.... for those who are aren't too sure what I am talking about, it is a round robin swap where the first person sends off a 12" center block to the next person on the list who adds a border and then sends it on to the next, great fun and I think it is great that my only own quilt is this one!

And after talking about Rosie,, I forgot to post a photo of her quilt!!! Still getting the hang of a blog site, I guess....

So, here's Rosie/Rosey's quilt!!!!

At the beginning of the year I joined in the Medallion Round Robin Quilt Swap on the forum of which I am a happy member. We sent out a 12" center piece and this is what I sent out on its travels........ Last week it came home.....

?That long

One of my Block of the Month that I received from one of the special friends on the forum.
Part of one my "buys" from o'seas!

And here is the other half!

I knew it was a while since I had posted, but can't believe its been that long!

Not a lot has happened, I seem to sit at my machine for ages, but not a lot gets done... probably because my puter is right next to it! I find I do a lot on the puter, either reading or posting on the forum that I am a member of, or spending money on materials from overseas!!!!! I have been in hospital for a short stay (for what I call an 'old lady's operation...eheh) and got a few appliques done there, other than that, I seem to just make lots of plans for lots of quilts which don't really happen !!!! I have managed to finish Rosey's quilt (grandaughter born 25/8/09 in the front seat of the car on the way to the hospital!!!) and have done some medallion round robin quilts that I have participated in, in the forum and I think that is that.

I am still on official sick leave from work but will go back for 2 weeks from 23Nov(probably need some spending money at xmas time) and am really feeling afloat... not too sure where or how I want to work but know from past experience that I can only go for a few months without work before I feel **splat&^%%### and need to go back for a while again.

OK, some piccies of my spendings and other things!

Cheers

Spent the day down at Maryborough and Hervey Bay, so called in at my favourite craft shop there in HB, the Dewdrop Inn, had a lovely time there, short but great. Marvellous what you can find when you only have a short time! Got some asian FQ, some pellon, a terrific looking tool that cuts a circle as you want and some of that shrinky stuff that I read about but haven't tried yet!
Quite pleased with this one
,Some of the asian pieces where I have been having my first attempt at appliqueing.
Why did that sentence underline?

Has been a while since I posted, but jolly work gets in the way sometimes!
Have received a lovely block of the month from one of the special ladies in the forum with some really nice colours, and have started on an asian quilt which I am sort of going freelance with.
I am really a person that needs a recipe or a pattern and I follow that to the exact degree, with this one, I have a picture of one and am sort of adapting it! It will certainly be interesting to see how it ends up!

Cushion swap

Just received a terrific cushion cover from one of the ladies on the forum that I am a member of. I posted a photo of the cushion that I had made for her and this is a photo of what I received, it's lovely! It has given me new heights to reach for when deciding on what to do as a swap!

Still finished

In November last year, when I went on holidays, I thought I would take some quilting with me to do at times, I decided to make a quilt for my grand daughter who was 21 in March, so looked for a pattern that had small squares that I could pull out without too much trouble.
I found the pattern, and started cutting it out! 288 squares later I had enough and with the hellp of my friend Sue, we laid it out on the floor whilst moving around on our knees, ugh!
March came and went and because I had increased my work hours, had hardly touched the quilt certainly not in time for her birthday. Anyway, it eventually got done, and after some great quilting from DewDrop Inn at Hervey Bay, I put the last touches to the binding this morning !! Hurrahh! Here's what it looks like !

Finished

Followers

Where's my list of followers gone to? I usually use that list to check into their sites to see what they are up to !!

Marg has been helping me long distance with doing a stack & whack, she has made one with the same yellow material as I have used, but check out her blog to see the difference! I ended up putting it together totally different from both her's and the blook instructions so can't work out why it looks passable, certainly need to practice on a few more, I think!! Don't forget to check out the House of Margarita, it's one of the many good ones.

Home again and trying to relax

Spent a lovely week in Brisbane last week, hit the shops for end of financial year sales and bought a bit. The main reason for being there was to go to the Simon & Garfunkel concert. Having never been in the situation to attend concerts in my younger life, I now attend a few when I desire. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were absolutely magical, all their songs together and then both artists sang some of their own hits, while the backing band were very talented, they could have gone home at any time and left the duo singing on their own, which they did occasionally. Came down to earth on my return home when I decided to rearrange my craft room and hurt my back in the process, not too bad, I'm fine when I'm up and fine when I'm down but it is the getting to either that hurts.
Have attempted my first Stack & Whack block today, it appears to look ok, but I lost myself in the instructions and went out on my own, it seemed that I would need to cut a lot of material to follow the instructions and I just wanted to make one or two blocks to see how it all went before committing myself to a large amount of material. Will post a view of what it looks like shortly.
Till the next time, cheers

Friday night and I feel like I have been put through a mangle! Went off to my favourite masseur this morning as my neck has been very stiff and sore for a few weeks, needless to say that most of the pain is caused because I sit and sew for too long!
Slowly getting a handle on this blogging, but have now found out that there is a 'set of manners' that go with it - will have to find out what the rules are!!

And this one is my second month swap - its called Card Trick, and I have been wanting to try it for ages, glad it turned out ok!

My first mystery block of the month that I have done for a swap, I am trying to make one for myself at the same time as I do one for my partner. The back one went to Willoger.

Wednesday, 8.30pm.
I think I am getting the hang of blogging, although I would still like to change the dates to my time! Here's hoping that this is the start of a lot of fun things to happen.!

This is the one that I ended up with, it still has a bit to add on. I had forgotten that I hadn't really finished the cushion when I took the photo!
This is a cushion cover that I 'mucked up' for a swap on a forum with a terrific bunch of quilters and craft people that I am a member of. I forgot to reread the instructions and made a little 12" cushion when it should have been bigger! I still like it, so kept it for myself!
This one was a sort of 'challenge quilt', a few of us at work all started quilting around the same time and we chose this pattern to make in our individual colours. I gave this one to one of my sisters, because they are colours that I would never choose for myself, yet I agree, it looks great!

This beautifyl quilting was done at the DewDropInn Patchwork Shop at Hervey Bay. I have had a few special quilting jobs done by them now, fantastic service!

Maddy's quilt

Hopefully this will show Maddy's quilt! Slowly getting there!

Strugglin

Still struggling to put this blog to air, and the huuge book from the library on blogging doesn't seem to help!!!

One of the many baby quilts I made last year, my four stepsons and their wives all had babies in the year, so I improved my P&Q by huge steps!

Still playing, looking, working out things

Whew, that's a bit big!
